South Texas Health System (STHS) is actively recruiting a skilled Pathologist to join our established team in McAllen, TX. This hospital-employed position offers competitive compensation and the opportunity to join an expanding pathology group, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality diagnostic services within a collaborative and supportive practice environment. Candidates requiring J1-waiver visas are encouraged to apply. PRN positions also available. 


Quick Facts

  • Employment Type: Full-time, hospital-employed physician position
  • Schedule / Hours: Standard hospital pathology schedule
  • Call coverage: As required for pathology coverage (1:3 to 1:4), with techs on call to help with frozen sections (weekdays and weekends)
  • Patient Volume: High-volume acute care facility with growing demand for diagnostic pathology services
  • Location: McAllen/Edinburg, Texas (Rio Grande Valley)
  • Practice Setting: South Texas Health System
  • Support / Care Team: Collaborative pathology group with an expanding team, laboratory technologists, and support staff. Pathologist assistants and grossing assistants will gross all specimens
  • EMR / Technology: Cerner EMR with advanced clinical and anatomic pathology laboratory equipment

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive anatomic and clinical pathology services to a diverse patient population
  • Collaborate with the pathology group, clinicians, and laboratory staff to ensure high-quality diagnostic services. General pathology sign-out
  • Participate in diagnostic evaluations, reporting, and quality assurance activities
  • Document findings and maintain accurate records within the hospital’s EMR system
  • No autopsies

  • Salary: Competitive base salary + Medical Directorship

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology
  • Active Texas medical license or eligibility to obtain Texas licensure
  • Candidates requiring J1-waiver and H1b visas are encouraged to apply.
